Nourish the Seeds of Intention with Lovingkindness

Lovingkindness or loving-friendliness can be described as the aspiration to offer happiness to self and others. This is an expression of love. Love in this context is about unity—the absence of separation between self and others—as well as the peaceful coexistence and integration of various parts within the self.

Love allows for generosity, kindness, acceptance, and peacefulness toward self and others that is untainted by greed, fear, indifference, judgment, or envy. A loving attitude supports a wish for the safety, ease, wellness, and happiness of all beings. This attitude is reflected by our thoughts and embodied in our speech and actions.

Contemplating upon the intention to offer happiness to others is a worthy first step, akin to planting seeds in a friendship garden. What you think, say, attend to, and do provide nourishment for the seeds of intention to take root and transform into beautiful flowers.
