Hvar Island, Croatia: September 2019

Moving with Balance, Vitality, and Joy

A retreat featuring gentle mindful movement and mindfulness meditation

Larry Cammarata, Ph.D. & Linda Cammarata, RN, RYT

Hvar Island, Croatia

September 1 to 7, 2019

Learn and explore within a friendly, supportive small group setting.

Hvar Island is regarded as one of the most beautiful islands in the world. Our retreat is located in the charming village of Dol Sveta Ana, a pristine 12th century hamlet discretely nestled into the verdant brush & pinewood forest that majestically rises above the island's oldest settlement, Stari Grad. Our accomodatlons will be at Suncokret, a boutique holistic retreat center adorned by stone cottages in a secluded setting.

Dol Sveta Ana is often compared to Provence and Tuscany, with its sprawling vineyards, noble olive groves, fragrant lavender plantations, fertile fields, and charming stone cottages, so elegantly framed by the distant blue sea and open sky. Located only minutes away from the island's major attractions, yet peacefully tucked away from bustling tourist towns, St. Ana provides an ideal escape from ordinary life to an extraordinary organic haven.

In a supportive small group setting, you will learn about and practice the skills of mindfulness and gentle mindful movement, skills that can be applied to your personal and professional development. In addition to your accommodations, the retreat also includes cultural explorations, adventures in nature, and fresh vegetarian food. No prior experience with meditation or mindful movement is necessary. Please read below for details, photos, and videos.

Mindful Movement for Self-Regulation with Dr. Larry Cammarata

This educational program integrates the application of mindfulness, gentle mindful movement, and body awareness in the treatment of medical and psychological disorders. The skill of enhanced body awareness can support the presence of both client and clinician. Mindful movement can add dynamism and energy to the treatment process, literally “moving” our clients towards the experience of wholeness while facilitating embodied insight.  We will examine mindfulness, mindful movement, and body-oriented strategies designed to facilitate self-regulation, mood stabilization, and enhanced concentration. The application of mindful movement and body-oriented interventions in the treatment of various psychological disorders will also be covered. For more details, click on Course Objectives.

Our excursions take us to beautiful seaside towns where you can stroll, swim, relax in a cafe, dine, and shop.

You will visit idyllic beaches that feature the crystal clear water of the Adriatic Sea, which is part of the Mediterranean Sea.

Captivating lavender fields-to-sea views

Relax, restore, and renew in a stunningly beautiful natural setting.

Tastefully appointed rooms nestled within a 12th century hamlet

Delicious, healthy brunches and dinners featuring Mediterranean vegetarian cuisine and Dalmatian specialties.

"Words cannot begin to describe the magical and adventurous Qigong/Yoga retreat that I attended in Croatia, run by Linda and Larry Cammarata. Their welcoming presence, knowledge/skill of their craft and playful nature set the tone for this beautiful retreat experience in Croatia. Our days were filled with Qigong/Yoga/Meditation and amazing excursions all over Hvar Island that our host provided. The intimacy of our small group allowed for a unique and personal experience. The retreat center offered lovely accommodations and delicious home cooked vegetarian meals. I am already planning my next retreat with Linda and Larry, just cannot decide which amazing retreat/location to attend!"
