Mindful Movement for Self-Regulation with Dr. Larry Cammarata

This educational program integrates the application of mindfulness, gentle mindful movement, and body awareness in the treatment of medical and psychological disorders. The skill of enhanced body awareness can support the presence of both client and clinician. Mindful movement can add dynamism and energy to the treatment process, literally “moving” our clients towards the experience of wholeness while facilitating embodied insight.  We will examine mindfulness, mindful movement, and body-oriented strategies designed to facilitate self-regulation, mood stabilization, and enhanced concentration. The application of mindful movement and body-oriented interventions in the treatment of various psychological disorders will also be covered. For more details, click on Course Objectives.

Yoga Platform Sugar Beach

In addition to the educational program described above, this uplifting retreat is designed to support and inspire you in living a mindful life with a focused mind, open heart, and relaxed body. You’re invited to explore the art of self-care through: gentle yoga, mindful movement, and mindfulness meditation. You will also enjoy time for deep relaxation in nature. Your senses will be enhanced by: delicious cuisine, leisurely walks along the beach, planned excursions, and experiencing the sights and sounds of nature that will surround you. This retreat provides you with an opportunity to restore your vitality and wellness while cultivating kindness, gentleness, and equanimity. 


Sugar Beach Resort is located within a secluded cove in Guanacaste province on 24 acres of natural beauty. This area of Costa Rica is known for long days of sunshine, beautiful beaches, wildlife, and clean, warm water. Practice yoga and qigong in the open-air pavilion overlooking the Pacific.

L & L Sicily

Linda Cammarata, RN, RYT & Larry Cammarata, Ph.D. have been teaching mindful movement practices for over 20 years. Linda is a Registered Nurse and Registered Yoga Teacher who specializes in the healing benefits of yoga, qigong, and meditation as applied to self-regulation for stress, mood, and sleep management. Her classes are uplifting and supportive. Larry is a clinical psychologist practicing in Asheville, North Carolina who specializes in mindfulness-based psychotherapy and education. He is a co-author of a book entitled, A Year of Living Mindfully: 52 Quotes & Weekly Mindfulness Practices. His work on mindful movement was presented at the 11th Annual International Scientific Conference of the Center for Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts School of Medicine. He is an instructor of Taijiquan (Tai Chi) and Qigong who has received advanced training in China and in the US. Both Linda and Larry teach at yoga teacher training programs and have facilitated international mindfulness-oriented retreats for several years.
